Dear Lord,

Grant me the strength to be content where I am. The patience to wait on your timing, and the faith to remember that you have your hand always on my heart.

Amen

Welcome to ND Ranch Wife!
Hi, I’m JoAnna, a North Dakota Ranch Wife, and I’m excited to welcome you to our ranch! Here on the Hartsoch Ranch in Northwestern North Dakota, my family and I are building a life rooted in the land, raising kids and cattle, and sharing the best of ranch living.

Did you know ranching developed in western Dakota where the rough terrain and limited rainfall made farming challenging? Early ranchers could only get started around 1880, when the Northern Pacific Railroad reached this area. My family has deep roots here, stretching back to my great-great-great-grandfather, Stephen William Brown, who settled in south-central North Dakota and built a stone farmhouse that still stands on the highest hill. It’s where I grew up, learning the art of ranching and cultivating a love for this land.

Today, alongside raising high-quality Angus beef cattle, I’m thrilled to share our ND Ranch Wife Coffee and country boutique. Our coffee, roasted fresh in partnership with Roastify, brings a taste of the ranch to your morning routine. And for those who appreciate Western flair, our boutique offers unique, creative designs inspired by life here on the ranch.

Whether you’re here to discover our beef, savor our coffee blends, or explore rustic, faith-based apparel, I’m grateful you’ve joined us. Follow us on YouTube to see more of ranch life, and be sure to check out our “About Us” page for the full story behind Hartsoch Ranch. Welcome to our family, and enjoy your stay!

TID BITS OF INFORMATION

All ranchers are farmers, but all farmers are not ranchers.

Livestock differentiates the 2.

The rancher maintains the land and grass so that it can be used to feed livestock.

The Farmer works the land and soil so that vegetables and food can be grown there.
